This morning, we were joined by Bootroom Academies, who gave a presentation to our Year 11 students about the diploma course they offer. Bootroom Academies is owned by former Liverpool manager, Roy Evans, and former Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and England player and manager, Steve McMahon, who was present this morning.
Students were also invited to attend St John Rigby College for more information on Wednesday 7th March from 5pm until 6pm (parents and guardians are also welcome).
Their course is a fully approved and fully funded 2-year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports & Physical Activity, which offers substantial UCAS points, which is the equivalent of 3 A level qualifications. Students are also able to choose other subjects to study alongside the course, should they wish. There is also an opportunity to complete FA qualifications including Talent ID (scouting) and Sports Psychology. All assessments are coursework and practical based, so there are no written exams.
Their partnership with St John Rigby allows Bootroom Academies to deliver their Further Education Sport & Physical Activity Qualifications to 16 to 19 year olds. The qualification is fully approved and offers substantial UCAS points and enable students to progress onto Higher Education (University) should they wish. All students on the course will also gain consistent and very ‘real’ work experience, being mentored by their fantastic and highly skilled coaches. The qualification also provides them with the opportunity to apply for jobs within the sports industry, up-skilling them on how to write an effective CV and how to prepare for a recruitment process, enabling the next generation of students to have a future in the sector they love. As the partnership develops, there will be further opportunities for the young people at St John Rigby to benefit from courses, coaching and education from Bootroom Academies.
