Low Bank Ground 21st – 23rd May 2025

A fantastic time was had by all at Low Bank Ground during the week ending 21st-23rd of May, located along the banks of Lake Coniston it truly is a breath-taking location.

After arriving at around 11am, we sorted out rooming and then began the activities with a session on lake Coniston on both paddle boards and kayaks (making two crossings of the lake which is quite unusual). After our evening meal, we went on a small hike around Howe tarn and watched the sun beginning to set behind the mountains.

On Thursday morning we made our way over to the Langdale valley where we did some climbing at Stickle Ghyll, the afternoon activity was a Ghyll Scramble (which is basically walking up a fast-flowing river). We ended the evening with a camp fire where everyone had a go at (and succeeded in) making fire with a flint striker, we also watched the bats flying around us as night-time fell.

On Friday, before we had lunch and started to pack up, we crossed Lake Coniston on canoes, kayaks and paddle boards to the Bluebird café for a hot chocolate and an ice-cream (some preferred a Latte!!!). We arrived back at School at around 15:00. Many thanks to Staff and Students for a really good time, can't wait to organize the next one.
